Dear SCACA Members,

It is an honor to serve as the President of the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association for the 2021-2022 school year. I look forward to serving the great coaches of our state as we strive to make a difference in the lives of our student athletes. As always, we want to thank our Executive Director, Coach Shell Dula, the staff of the SCACA, and our SCACA board for all of their hard work for the athletes and coaches in our state.

We are in a difficult season, to say the least, as we maneuver through this pandemic and our kids need coaches now more than ever. It is important that as we band together, we do not lose sight of our calling and the impact we get to make in the lives of our student athletes. They are living in a very uneasy world and the only stability that some of them have is when they are in our athletic programs.

The amazing work of this organization is not only done by our coaches from around the state and the SCACA staff, but also the many vendors that partner with us to put on the best clinic in the country. They give faithfully to our Herlong scholarship for the children of coaches. Without them and their generosity, the SCACA would not be able to provide benefits to our coaches.

As we continue to work through the challenges we will face during this pandemic, it is my hope that we keep our students’ health as our number one priority. It is important that we adhere to all guidelines given to us by the CDC, DHEC, the SCHSL, and your local school district. We have been blessed to receive the title of “Coach” and to serve the future generation of our world. The way we handle the adversity we will face with the pandemic will be a teachable moment. Students will be able to take what they learn from us and apply it to their own challenges in life.

May we strive to work together to make every practice and athletic event safe for our athletes, coaches, fans and communities. Kids need coaches!
